  3. because radio was there and having this effect on 
  4. their psyches.

  6. In other villages, I remember Ted [Carpenter] told 
  7. me, he got some of this on film even. He took film in 
  8. and went up river in canoes, to head hunter 
  9. villages, and would stay there for awhile. And film 
  10. the people, film their rituals. Then go back 
  11. downstream to do the developing, come back and 
  12. show them the movies. And literally within weeks, 
  13. those villages that had been filmed were deserted. 
  14. Culture that had stayed together for generation
