Start ripping each other’s throats out. Just
because radio was there and having this effect on
their psyches.
In other villages, I remember Ted [Carpenter] told
me, he got some of this on film even. He took film in
and went up river in canoes, to head hunter
villages, and would stay there for awhile. And film
the people, film their rituals. Then go back
downstream to do the developing, come back and
show them the movies. And literally within weeks,
those villages that had been filmed were deserted.
Culture that had stayed together for generation
